Today, Jingyu Jin, a 45-year-old Chinese national, has been ordered to stand trial in the 16th Circuit Court in Macomb County. Jin faces six felony charges related to allegedly leading an international human trafficking ring connected to commercial sex operations at illicit massage parlors in Detroit, St. Clair Shores, and Sterling Heights. This was announced by Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel.
Jin was charged in December 2024 with several felonies: conducting a criminal enterprise, conspiracy to commit conducting a criminal enterprise, accepting earnings from prostitution, transportation for the purposes of prostitution, money laundering, and keeping a house of prostitution. The penalties for these charges range from five to twenty years.
"The disturbing reality is that human trafficking continues to exploit vulnerable people throughout our state," Nessel stated. "I am pleased that this case is now headed to trial as it brings us closer to making it clear Michigan will not be a safe haven for the heinous trafficking trade."
The alleged human trafficking ring is among the largest ever uncovered in Michigan. It was discovered following an investigation initiated in the summer of 2024. In December 2024, numerous law enforcement officers executed search and arrest warrants across Wayne and Macomb Counties. This operation resulted in the liberation of several women of Chinese and Korean origin who were part of the alleged trafficking network.
Jin's next court appearance is scheduled for June 23 at 1:30 p.m.
