An Upper Peninsula resident, Amanda Hughes from Gwinn, won $500,000 through the Michigan Lottery's 50X Wild Time instant game. This win was prompted by a suggestion from a store clerk when her initial choice of the $20 Wild Time game was unavailable.
“I don’t play scratch off tickets a lot, but I do buy one every once in a while,” Hughes explained. After scratching off the ticket and seeing the prize amount, she initially doubted its authenticity. “I thought I must not have read the instructions correctly,” she said. However, after confirming with the store clerk that she had indeed won, reality set in for Hughes.
The winning ticket was purchased at Kwik Trip located at 301 M-553 in Marquette. Hughes plans to use her winnings to purchase a house and save for her children's future. “I still can’t believe this is real! This money is going to be life changing for my family,” she stated.
Since its launch in February 2024, players have won over $67 million with the 50X Wild Time game. The game offers prizes ranging from $10 to $500,000 per ticket costing $10 each. There are still more than $24 million in prizes available, including 52 prizes of $10,000 and 96 prizes of $1,000.
In 2024 alone, nearly $1.8 billion was awarded to players through lottery instant games across Michigan.
Lottery instant games are available at various retailers throughout the state.
