This month, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel and Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes are releasing a two-part podcast series on their show, Pantsuits and Lawsuits. In part one of the series, now available, Attorney General Nessel provides listeners with an inside look at DeBoer v. Snyder, a case she personally litigated that was later consolidated into Obergefell. She shares the legal and emotional challenges faced during the fight for marriage equality, discusses the immediate impact of the ruling, and explains what this victory meant for many families, including her own.
Part two will be released on June 19 and features April DeBoer and Jayne Rowse. The Michigan couple at the center of this historic case will share their personal story of resilience, family, and hope.
“Reflecting on the 10th anniversary of the Obergefell decision gives us an opportunity to look back at how far we’ve come in the fight for marriage equality,” Nessel said. “It was great to catch up with April and Jayne, who helped make that progress possible.”
