Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel and Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes have addressed concerns over proposed Medicaid cuts in their podcast, Pantsuits and Lawsuits. The attorneys general discussed the potential impact of these cuts on American healthcare, focusing on how they could affect Michigan residents.

In a conversation with Georgetown University's Joan Alker, Attorney General Mayes highlighted the critical role Medicaid plays in providing coverage to over 2.6 million Michigan residents through more than 200,000 enrolled providers. Proposed reductions by Republicans aim to cut at least $625 billion from Medicaid, which could result in the loss of coverage for 700,000 to 750,000 Michiganders. This would also reduce access to healthcare providers and increase financial pressure on hospitals and small businesses.

Attorney General Nessel emphasized the importance of accessible healthcare for all Michiganders: “Every Michigander deserves access to affordable, high-quality healthcare,” she stated. She expressed concern that the proposed cuts would destabilize Michigan's health system and economy while posing risks to lives and communities.

The podcast aims to make complex legal topics understandable for listeners by combining expertise with engaging discussions. It covers major legal cases and policy debates while offering insights into how attorneys general contribute to justice.
