NMU swimmers Carbone and DeKievit honored with CSC Academic All-America distinction

Camilla Carbone and Zoe DeKievit, members of the Northern Michigan University swim and dive team, have been recognized for their academic excellence by being named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America teams. Carbone secured a spot on the Second Team, while DeKievit was named to the Third Team, as announced in Austin, Texas.

Among the 30 members of the Academic All-America Division II women's swimming and diving teams, nine have maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA through their undergraduate or graduate studies. The average GPA of the first-team members is 3.93.

Graduate student Camilla Carbone, who has a GPA of 4.00 and is pursuing a Master of Business Administration, has also earned CSC Academic All-District honors. Carbone's final season was notable, with consecutive CSC Academic All-America and All-District awards, a repeat GLIAC Commissioner's Award, and three All-America honors, which include first-team honors in the 100 backstroke. Additionally, she was part of the second-team 200 and 400 medley relay teams. This year, Carbone became a GLIAC champion, winning gold in the 100 back and a silver medal in the 400 medley relay.

Senior Zoe DeKievit also holds a 4.00 GPA and majors in Health and Fitness Education. This season, DeKievit added CSC Academic All-America and All-District honors to her achievements. She is an All-American in the 200 and 400 medley relay, earning silver in the 400 medley relay at the conference championships.
