Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel has announced the appointment of Christopher Rogers as the Grand Traverse County Public Administrator. "Chris’ roots in the community and extensive professional experience make him an excellent choice to serve as a public administrator," Nessel stated. "I am grateful for his commitment to Grand Traverse County and know he will serve residents well."
County public administrators play a role in managing intestate decedent estates where no heirs are known. They handle the determination, collection, liquidation, and distribution of assets. Attorneys in this role often engage in private practice, separate from their duties as county public administrators.
State Public Administrator Randi M. Merchant expressed optimism about Rogers' appointment, saying, "I look forward to working with County Public Administrator Rogers. The Department is fortunate to have a talented and passionate pool of attorneys that serve as county public administrators across the state, and I have every confidence that Chris Rogers will be an outstanding addition to that team."
Christopher Rogers, who resides in Traverse City, graduated from the University of Michigan and the University of New Hampshire Franklin Pierce School of Law. He is a member of both the Illinois State Bar Association and the State Bar of Michigan, as well as the Grand Traverse-Leelanau-Antrim Bar Association. Rogers has been practicing at the firm now known as Kuhn Rogers PLC in Traverse City for 15 years, specializing in estate planning, probate and trust administration, real property and property tax law, and business law.
Outside of his professional work, Rogers is active in his community, holding leadership roles in various volunteer organizations, including the Estate Planning Council of Grand Traverse Area. He was sworn into his new role on April 10.
