NFIB is dedicated to aiding small businesses in navigating the Earned Sick Time Act (ESTA), which became law on February 21, 2025. Following significant collaboration with business groups, Speaker Hall, and House and Senate Republicans, essential amendments were made to the petition-initiated legislation enacted by the Michigan Supreme Court.

The Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity (LEO) Wage and Hour division is actively fielding inquiries and updating its "Frequently Asked Questions" (FAQ) document on ESTA. This FAQ document is designed to address numerous concerns from NFIB members. Amanda Fisher, NFIB Michigan State Director, is available for questions that the FAQ may not cover.

Resources related to ESTA, including the Michigan Wage and Hour FAQ and a webinar, can be found through NFIB.
