The Northern Michigan University men's golf team is set to participate in the SVSU Spring Invitational in Lexington, Kentucky. The tournament will take place over two days, March 15th and 16th, at the Kearney Hill Golf Links.

Kearney Hill is recognized as one of the top golf courses in Kentucky by Golf Digest Magazine. It is known for hosting major golfing events such as the Senior PGA and the PGA Junior Tour Series. The course features a Scottish links-style design with deep sand and grass bunkers, minimal trees, and open terrain that makes wind a significant factor during play.

Weather forecasts for Lexington predict sunny conditions on March 15th with temperatures averaging 63 degrees Fahrenheit and winds ranging from 16-22 mph, with gusts up to 46 mph. On March 16th, temperatures are expected to be cooler, ranging from a low of 39 degrees to a high of 59 degrees. There is also a 70% chance of rain with wind speeds between 8-21 mph and gusts reaching up to 45 mph.

The team traveling includes Arthur Ylitalo, Walter Ylitalo, Russel Sprecher, Tyler Annala, Levi Pennala, and Kyle Maki (competing individually).

In their previous outing at the Saddlebrook Spring Kickoff in Wesley Chapel, Florida, Northern Michigan finished third overall after improving from fourth place on the first day. The team ended the week with an average score of +101 against strong competition from Missouri S&T.

Walter Ylitalo led his team by finishing tenth individually with a score of +18. His brother Arthur Ylitalo followed closely behind with a three-day total of +20. Tyler Annala and Russel Sprecher both completed the event tied for third on their team at +33 each.
