Northern Michigan University's men's basketball team is set to face top-seeded Michigan Tech in the GLIAC Semifinals on Saturday, March 8, at 12 p.m. The game will be held at the SDC Gym in Houghton and marks one of two semifinal matchups, with Lake Superior State and Ferris State also competing for a spot in the championship game.
The Wildcats enter the semifinals following an 85-72 victory over Grand Valley State Lakers in the quarterfinals. "Five Wildcats found double figures," with Jackson Dudek leading with 17 points. Brian Parzych contributed significantly, scoring 14 points and providing five assists. The team's performance has been consistent, reaching the 20-win mark for three consecutive seasons.
Dylan Kuehl has been a key player for Northern Michigan this season, averaging 16.3 points per game overall and achieving double figures in every conference game during the regular season. Since joining the starting lineup, Jackson Dudek has averaged 13.5 points per game.
Michigan Tech holds a perfect home record of 13-0 and is ranked No. 20 nationally. Their offense averages over 80 points per game on their home court, led by Marcus Tomashek who ranks "12th in the country at 23.1 points per game." The Huskies have defeated Northern Michigan twice this season.
