NMU women’s swim team ranks third after day one of GLIAC Championships

The Northern Michigan University (NMU) women's swim and dive team concluded the first day of the GLIAC Championships in third place. The team accumulated 166 points, following Grand Valley with 327 points and Wayne State with 208.

The day's events included the 200 medley relay, 1000 free, 200 IM, 50 free, 1-meter diving, and concluded with the 200 free relay. NMU secured three podium finishes during these competitions.

Annika Geyer earned a bronze medal in the 1000 free by reducing her entry time by 16 seconds to finish at 10:06.15, achieving an NCAA Division II B cut. Her teammate Annika Wright also made an NCAA cut by finishing sixth with a time of 10:10.89, which was 13 seconds faster than her entry time.

Kalina Ceglinski claimed third place in the 1-meter diving event with a score of 415.00, contributing significantly to NMU's points tally.

The evening concluded with NMU's silver medal win in the 200 free relay. The team comprised Mia Strazny, Elena Curti, Abigail Keen, and Becca Burrows.

Evie DeCarlo and Becca Burrows both finished fourth in their respective events—the 200 IM and the 50 free—each earning an NCAA Division II B cut.

Looking forward to tomorrow's events, NMU will compete in the 100 fly, 400 IM, 200 free, and the 400 medley relay. Preliminaries are scheduled for a start at 10 a.m., followed by finals at 5:30 p.m., both available for streaming on FloSwimming.
