Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) Director Tim Boring has announced changes to the department's communications team. Jennifer Holton, who previously held the position of Communications Director, will now serve as MDARD’s Chief Emergency Communications Officer. Holton has been with MDARD since 2004 and assumed the role of Communications Director in 2007.

"MDARD has long prioritized robust emergency management capacity, which has proven essential in our department’s response to Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza and other developing issues," stated Director Boring. "Jennifer’s deep expertise in this new position further elevates MDARD’s response capability and is an important investment in proactive assistance to producers during challenging times."

In addition to Holton's new role, Lynsey Mukomel has joined MDARD as Executive Director of Communications, a newly created position. Mukomel previously worked as the Communications Director for Congresswoman Elissa Slotkin's office and served as Press Secretary for the Michigan Department of Attorney General. Her career began in broadcast news at 9&10 News before she moved on to WOOD-TV 8 as an anchor and reporter.

"Lynsey brings a unique skillset to this new role, enabling us to continue delivering for Michigan through our department’s priorities of resiliency, diversity, and economic prosperity," said Director Boring. "Michigan agriculture has a bright future and I’m looking forward to Lynsey’s leadership in telling that story."
