The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) has announced the closure of the M-43 bridge over the Red Cedar River, along with the nearby Red Cedar Roadside Park in Ingham County. The closure is scheduled to begin on February 3, 2025, and will continue until early December 2025. This action is part of a bridge replacement project that includes water main work.

According to MDOT, this $11 million investment is projected to support 105 jobs through direct and indirect means. Motorists traveling in the vicinity should anticipate delays and are advised to follow posted detours or seek alternate routes.

"The new bridge will provide drivers with a safe, reliable structure for decades to come while the water main work will improve drainage," MDOT stated. They emphasized that closing lanes during such projects is essential for ensuring safety for both workers and motorists.

The closest communities affected by this closure are Okemos and Williamston. The project aims to enhance infrastructure reliability and safety in these areas.
