Northern Michigan athletes earn academic honors from College Sports Communicators

Three members of the Northern Michigan men's basketball team have been recognized with College Sports Communicators (CSC) All-District honors. The announcement was made on Tuesday, acknowledging the achievements of Max Weisbrod, Carson Smith, and Sam Privet.

Max Weisbrod, a Business Management major with a 3.56 GPA, received several accolades this season. He was named the GLIAC Player of the Year and earned All-GLIAC First Team honors. Additionally, he was part of the D2CCA All-Midwest Region First Team and NABC All-Region First Team as well as the GLIAC All-Tournament Team. Weisbrod played in all 30 games at point guard, averaging 17.2 points per game and 4.4 assists per game. His three-point shooting percentage stood at 39.1%, ranking second among conference players.

Carson Smith, who majors in Financial Management with a GPA of 3.52, started all 33 games for Northern Michigan. He averaged 12.7 points per game and led his team with 40 steals throughout the season.

Sam Privet holds a GPA of 3.88 in Construction Management and participated in all 33 games for his team this season. He maintained an average of 5.8 points per game while shooting an impressive field goal percentage of 62.1%.

The CSC Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Basketball Teams honor student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in academics across four divisions: NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA.

Academic All-District® honorees will move forward to be considered for CSC Academic All-America® recognition, with announcements scheduled for April.

The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs receive partial financial support from NCAA governance structures to assist CSC with awards fulfillment aspects.
