NMU women's nordic team shines on first day at NCAA Central Regionals

The NMU women's nordic team concluded the first day of the NCAA Central Regional Championships with a 7.5km freestyle race. Henriette Nilssen and Merle Richter secured silver and bronze medals, respectively.

Nilssen achieved second place with a time of 18:46.3, trailing behind Anabel Needam from Michigan Tech, who completed her home trail in 18:20.3. Richter finished third with a time of 18:55.8, improving her position from the first lap.

Kolibri Drobish, Victoria Dybwad, and Pearl Harvey finished sixth, seventh, and eighth with times of 19:13.8, 19:20.0, and 19:33.1, respectively.

Lauren McCollor and Flisa Ravald placed 10th and 12th with times of 19:50.2 and 19:56.5, while Ella Niznik ended in 23rd place at 21:06.8.

After the first day of competition, the gender-specific team standings for females are as follows:

- MTU leads with a score of 053

- NMU follows closely with a score of 052

- CSS has a score of 030

- UWGB stands at a score of 013

The overall team standings after day one are:

- MTU tops the chart with scores across categories totaling to 108

- NMU holds second place with a total score of 099

- CSS is third with a total score of 057

- UWGB ranks fourth with a total score of 034
