Michigan Tech secures Miner’s Cup with decisive win over Northern Michigan

The Northern Michigan University (NMU) football team suffered a significant defeat against the Michigan Tech Huskies, losing 62-0 at the Superior Dome. This victory marks the 13th consecutive Miner's Cup win for Michigan Tech over NMU.

In the first half, NMU allowed 31 points and struggled throughout the game. The Huskies continued their dominance by scoring an additional 24 points in the third quarter and another touchdown in the final minute. NMU faced difficulties with four turnovers and two blocked punts, failing to find their footing during the match.

Mitch Larkin led the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) in tackles, contributing 14 more to his record, including two for a loss. Justin Peake made nine defensive stops, while Jeremiah Gossett added two pass breakups. NMU's defense conceded 24 first downs and was held to negative net rushing yards.

This defeat leaves NMU with a season record of 0-7, while Michigan Tech improves to 4-2 after securing their first GLIAC victory.

Looking ahead, Northern Michigan will host Grand Valley State on Saturday, October 21st at 1 p.m. at the Superior Dome.
