Mike Rogers, a U.S. Senate candidate in Michigan, stated that Mexican "criminal" cartels are "profiting" from current border policies through human, sex, and drug smuggling. Rogers made his statement to the Great Lakes Wire on July 1.

"The only people profiting by Bidenomics are the criminal cartels engaged in human, sex, and drug smuggling into the U.S. through the Biden-Slotkin open border," said Rogers. "Biden and his Democrat allies have brought death, crime, and assaults to our neighborhoods. They can stop it, they just won't."

According to News Nation, Mexican drug cartels are offering VIP smuggling packages for migrants entering the U.S. through the southern border. The cartels charge between $6,000 and $15,000 per person to cross into the U.S. The La Línea cartel reportedly uses storm drain tunnels to smuggle approximately 1,000 migrants per month.

According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), U.S. Border Patrol has arrested 13,130 individuals with existing criminal convictions illegally crossing to date in Fiscal Year 2024.

A study conducted by the Latin American Coalition Against Trafficking in Women estimates that 60% of migrant children are either captives of cartels or involved in human trafficking or child pornography.

Rogers represented Michigan in Congress from 2001-2015. He served as Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee and is currently running for election to the U.S. Senate in Michigan.
