U.S. Senate Candidate Mike Rogers criticized President Biden's handling of the border crisis, claiming it is aimed at "scoring political points" rather than protecting Americans. The Rogers campaign made this statement to the Great Lakes Wire on June 17.

"It's blatantly obvious Joe Biden has no interest in actually securing the border, just scoring political points at the expense of the American people. In the Senate, I'll work to restore President Trump's successful policies and ensure our border agents have the tools and resources they need to secure the border," said Rogers.

President Biden issued an Executive Order on June 4 that would close the border to those seeking asylum if the total number of daily encounters at all ports of entry exceeds 2,500 people. According to NBC News, the border would not reopen until the daily average drops to 1,500.

Despite this order, asylum seekers are still being admitted rather than removed by border patrol officers in San Diego, as reported by the Washington Examiner. Only asylum seekers from six countries in the Eastern Hemisphere are being turned away.

"The Biden-Slotkin border crisis has made every state a border state," said Rogers in a post on X. "South American gangs are coming into our country and victimizing families right here in Michigan."

Rogers represented Michigan in Congress from 2001-2015 and served as Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee. He is currently running for election to the U.S. Senate in Michigan.
