John Digiacomo, a 60-year-old man from Clio, has been sentenced to 10-20 years’ incarceration in Genesee County Circuit Court for two counts of First-Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct. This sentence comes after Digiacomo pled no contest to the charges in February.

According to court records, Digiacomo was accused of multiple sexual assaults on an underage girl in Tuscola, Genesee, and Saginaw Counties. The assaults began when the teenage victim moved in with her aunt in the summer of 2014, and Digiacomo, who was her aunt’s neighbor and a tow truck driver, along with a co-defendant, victimized her for 10 months starting when she was 14. The men provided her with narcotics and threatened her and her family when she tried to stop the assaults.

Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel expressed gratitude for the efforts of her office in bringing Digiacomo to justice, stating, “Sexual assault victims often suffer in silence for years before coming forward. This department remains committed to securing justice for victims of cold case assaults, and we commend the bravery of this victim in standing up to her abusers.”

Digiacomo had previously been convicted by a jury trial in February 2023 for the assaults in Tuscola County and is currently serving a nearly 50-year prison sentence. His co-defendant was sentenced in 2022 in both Tuscola and Genesee counties and is serving up to 15 years for the assaults. The Department of Attorney General prosecuted all four cases related to this matter, and Digiacomo’s current sentence will run concurrent to his previous sentence in Tuscola County.

The case was prosecuted by the Attorney General Cold Case Sexual Assault Project, which is funded by a United States Department of Justice grant aimed at combating intimate relationship violence. The project is administered by the Michigan Domestic and Sexual Violence Prevention and Treatment Board.
