LANSING – Yesterday, Salahuddin Ahmad, owner of Managing Health Pain Clinic on 8 Mile Road in Detroit, faced charges related to alleged criminal activities at his clinic, as announced by Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel. Ahmad was arraigned in the 36th District Court in Wayne County for allegedly running a "pill mill" from his clinic.

According to the Michigan Attorney General's office, Ahmad, along with three of his employees, have been charged for their involvement in the alleged enterprise. The clinic is accused of providing prescriptions for "Norcos," a highly addictive pain pill, without proper evaluations and accepting cash for these prescriptions, which were then filled at local pharmacies. An undercover investigation conducted by the Michigan State Police uncovered these activities.

Salahuddin Ahmad, 69, of West Bloomfield, faces charges including conducting a criminal enterprise, controlled substance delivery/manufacture less than 50 grams, and felony firearm. One of Ahmad's employees is facing charges identical to his, while two other employees have been charged with conducting a criminal enterprise and controlled substance delivery/manufacture less than 50 grams each.

In response to the situation, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel emphasized the seriousness of the opioid crisis, stating, "The over proliferation of pain pills continues to exacerbate the opioid crisis plaguing our state and nation." She further added, “Flooding the streets with pain pills and ignoring prescription protocol, to churn a fast and steady profit, is not a business model — its’ a criminal enterprise, and one we will prosecute to the fullest extent of the law. We cannot allow these pill mills to continue to illegally operate and prey on people who need addiction services, not easier access to drugs.”

Salahuddin Ahmad is scheduled to appear before the 36th District Court for a probable cause conference on April 9th, with a preliminary examination set for April 16th. The employees facing charges have not yet been arraigned.

Please note that in all criminal proceedings, a criminal charge is merely an allegation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Booking photos are not provided by the Department for such cases.
