Monroe County Community College is offering a five-week Certified Nurse Aide course beginning Wednesday, March 15, 2023.  This non-credit course provides 123 hours of training.

Classroom and lab sessions will be held Wednesdays - Thursdays, 8:45 a.m. - 3 p.m. and Fridays from 8:45 a.m. - 1:55 p.m. through April 14, on MCCC's main campus. The final week of the course will be clinical training at a state-approved site in the Monroe area Monday, April 17 - Friday, April 21, from 7 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

The CNA course is designed to prepare graduates to fulfill the role of direct caregiver/nurse aide. The course emphasizes the skills and behaviors that are significant to the role of nurse aides in a healthcare setting. Student knowledge and competency are assessed routinely to determine achievement of the course outcomes. Upon successful completion of this course, students will be eligible to take the clinical and written exams required for certification as a nurse aide in the State of Michigan. Students completing the course are also eligible to receive five credit hours toward further study at MCCC. 

The cost for the course is $2,250, plus miscellaneous supply and other fees*, including: 

  • Uniforms and supplies: $60.00
  • BLS for Healthcare Provider CPR Training: $60.00  (requires online instruction and in-person skill  assessments, which may be scheduled through the Respiratory Therapy Club at MCCC or any American Heart Association training center)   
  • State Certification Exam $125  
  • Textbook $40
* These costs are estimated and may be higher or lower than the estimated price.
