County of Calhoun issued the following announcement on Sept 18.
Household Hazardous Waste Collection
Parking lot south of the intersection of Hanover St. and Grand St., Marshall
Saturday, September 25
Time: 9:00 AM to Noon
Household Hazardous Waste Collections are being held on the Saturdays listed above. Events are for Calhoun County residents only and items must be residential. Items that will be accepted include: paint thinner, oil-based paints, fuels (must be in approved container), solvents, acids, bases, pesticides, herbicides, household cleaners, metallic mercury, medications, sharps, household batteries, fluorescent light bulbs, smoke detectors, motor oil, antifreeze, brake fluid, transmission fluid, propane cylinders, fire extinguishers, aerosol cans, and PCB-containing lamp ballasts.
Items that will NOT be accepted includes: latex paint, car batteries, school chemicals, construction materials/debris, radioactive materials, ammunitions, weapons, and explosives.
