Battle Creek Public Schools issued the following announcement on Sept 17.
We have an important notification to share with you about food service in our schools as we continue to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic. Nation-wide supply chain disruptions have been causing difficulties for our food service team as they work hard to prepare and serve healthy, great-tasting meals for our students. As a result, families may begin to see changes to the lunch and breakfast menus more often, based on product substitutions from food suppliers.
Knowing that these challenges could last for the next several months, our partners from Chartwell’s jumped into action by planning menus well in advance, adjusting food order schedules, and identifying some alternative suppliers. We are thankful to our outstanding food service team for taking these proactive steps to limit the impact this may have on BCPS students.
For the most up-to-date menu information, visit the BCPS Nutrislice page at bcps.me/menu. Our food service team will make every attempt to update this page as soon as a change is made to the menu so that families can check online. However, out of an abundance of caution, we highly recommend that families with students who have food allergies remind their children to check with cafeteria staff regarding product substitutions that may not be reflected on the menu posted.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding your student’s meals, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Michelle Morrissey, Director of Dining Services by emailing mmorrissey@battlecreekpublicschools.org.
Thank you in advance for your patience and flexibility as we work through these challenges.
