City of Charlevoix issued the following announcement on Aug 10.
The City of Charlevoix strives to be a leader in Michigan in offering accessible, walkable, and beautiful recreation opportunities for all in the community. Despite having 14 parks and 125 acres, our residents and visitors noted something important missing - a place for their dogs to play!
With public input from the residents of Charlevoix giving a dog park a high priority, the City's Recreation Department has found a location that makes great sense to the Community - the unused land at the Carpenter Street Ball Fields. With City funds committed to enclosing the area, we are seeking help from the community to make this underutilized space into a full-fledged park! If we hit our goal, every dollar donated will be matched by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC), essentially DOUBLING YOUR DONATION!
