COUNTY OF WAYNE: Declared Federal Emergency for Wayne County

High water 123222 960 720

County of Wayne issued the following announcement on July 16.

President Biden Just Declared Federal Emergency for Wayne County

The declaration comes in the wake of last month's devastating flooding that damaged more than 19,000 homes in the county.

County Executive Warren C. Evans was briefed on the declaration earlier this morning by FEMA and White House officials.

The declaration clears the way for affected residents to seek federal disaster assistance to recover and rebuild.

FEMA will be detailing the process for residents to follow in applying for relief in the coming days and we will post those details here when they become available.

Special shoutout to Wayne County's Congressional delegation -- Rep. Debbie Dingell, Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib, Rep. Brenda Lawrence, and Representative Haley Stevens -- for their tireless efforts to help secure this declaration.
