The Village of Ontonagon announced on May 6 that it will conduct curbside collection of tree leaves only for village residents, beginning on May 19, 2026. The Department of Public Works (DPW) will start the pickup process as time and work schedules allow.

The announcement is important for residents who need to dispose of yard waste this spring. Only tree leaves will be collected during this period; branches are not included in the service.

Residents are required to set their yard waste out at the curb by Tuesday, May 19. If a street has already been serviced and debris is set out after that date, it will not be picked up. The DPW emphasized that pickup timing depends on their schedule and workload.

For those with branches or brush to dispose of, homeowners are advised to contact local contractors for removal services. A list of contractors can be found in the Business Directory under the Community tab on the village website at www.villageofontonagon.org.

The Village Brush Dump will remain closed to public use during this collection period. Residents with questions about the program can contact the Village Office at 884-2305.
