The City of Midland announced on April 19 that the Tittabawassee River has begun to recede after reaching a crest of approximately 26.17 feet on Friday, April 17.

As the river levels drop, city officials have assessed and reopened several streets that were previously closed due to flooding. The newly reopened roads include Ann Street parking between Ashman Street and McDonald Street, the Ashman Street/Wyman Street loop, Currie Parkway between M-20 and Main Street, Poseyville Road between East Ashby Road and East Ellsworth Street, St. Andrews Road between Orchard Drive and the Grace A. Dow Memorial Library, Stratford Woods Drive, and West Main Street between University Avenue and Orchard Drive.

Despite these improvements, several areas remain inaccessible as water has not yet fully receded from all affected locations. Streets still closed due to flooding are Dublin Avenue south of Plumtree Drive; Emerson Park Drive south of Main Street; Golfside Drive east of Currie Parkway; Letts Street between North Perrine Road and Sturgeon Avenue; Patterson Road between Pine River Road and Ashby Road; Pine River Road at Atwell Street; Pine River Road at Patterson Road (with traffic detoured via S. Grey Road); Pine River Road at Poseyville Road; Pomranky Road from Vance Road to Soper Street; and Tittabawassee River Road from Green Road to Whiting Drive.

The City said it will continue monitoring river conditions closely in order to keep residents informed as more streets become safe for travel.
