The City of Midland announced on April 14 that the Tittabawassee River reached a level of 19.46 feet at 3 p.m., with a forecasted crest of 25.50 feet expected at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 16.

The rising river levels have led to street closures in several areas. The city has closed Dublin Avenue south of Plumtree Drive, Emerson Park Drive south of Main Street, Golfside Drive east of Currie Parkway, Pomranky Road from Vance Road to Soper Street, and Tittabawassee River Road from Green Road to Whiting Drive.

If the river reaches its projected crest later this week, officials anticipate additional roadways may be affected by flooding. Potentially impacted roads include Currie Parkway between M-20 and Main Street; Pine River Road at Atwell Street, Patterson Road, and Poseyville Road; Poseyville Road near the Poseyville Bridge (where one northbound lane may close); St. Andrews Road between Orchard Drive and the Grace A. Dow Memorial Library; and West Main Street between University Avenue and Orchard Drive.

City officials said they will continue monitoring conditions as the situation develops and will keep residents informed about any further road closures or changes in the river’s forecasted crest.

Residents are encouraged to stay alert for updates from city authorities regarding flood risks or additional street closures.
