The City of Midland announced on April 15 that the Tittabawassee River is forecasted by the National Weather Service to crest at about 25.30 feet at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 16.

Officials reported that as of 9 a.m. Wednesday, the river had already reached a level of 22.41 feet. Due to these rising water levels, several streets have been closed to traffic for safety reasons.

The closed streets include Dublin Avenue south of Plumtree Drive, Emerson Park Drive south of Main Street, Golfside Drive east of Currie Parkway, Pomranky Road from Vance Road to Soper Street, St. Andrews Road between Orchard Drive and the Grace A. Dow Memorial Library, and Tittabawassee River Road from Green Road to Whiting Drive.

Looking ahead to the projected crest level of 25.30 feet, city officials anticipate additional roadways may be impacted by flooding conditions. These areas include Currie Parkway between M-20 and Main Street; Pine River Road at Atwell Street; Pine River Road at Patterson Road; Pine River Road at Poseyville Road; Poseyville Road near Poseyville Bridge where one northbound lane may close; and West Main Street between University Avenue and Orchard Drive.

The City stated it will continue monitoring river conditions closely and keep residents informed about any further road closures or updates regarding changes in the river’s crest forecast.
