The City of Midland announced on April 15 that the forecasted crest for the Tittabawassee River has been increased to approximately 26.70 feet, expected at 8 a.m. on Thursday, April 16.

The rising river levels have already led to several street closures as of Wednesday afternoon when the river reached a height of 23.55 feet. The closed streets include Dublin Avenue south of Plumtree Drive, Emerson Park Drive south of Main Street, Golfside Drive east of Currie Parkway, Letts Street between North Perrine Road and Sturgeon Avenue, Pomranky Road from Vance Road to Soper Street, St. Andrews Road between Orchard Drive and the Grace A. Dow Memorial Library, Stratford Woods Drive, and Tittabawassee River Road from Green Road to Whiting Drive.

City officials said that if the river reaches its projected crest level of 26.70 feet on Thursday morning, additional roadways may be affected by flooding. These areas include Ann Street parking lots; Currie Parkway between M-20 and Main Street; Pine River Road at Atwell Street; Pine River Road at Patterson Road; Pine River Road at Poseyville Road; Poseyville Road near Poseyville Bridge; West Main Street between University Avenue and Orchard Drive as well as between University Avenue and West Sugnet Road; and West Sugnet Road west of Main Street.

The City stated it will continue monitoring conditions closely and will keep residents informed about any further road closures or updates regarding changes in the Tittabawassee River’s crest forecast.
