BERKLEY, MI – The Berkley American Legion Post 374 is proud to announce that the Honor Guard provided honors at 20 funerals in 2022.

The Honor Guard is made up of dedicated veterans who have chosen to give back to their community by honoring the lives and sacrifices of their fellow service members. They perform flag ceremonies, rifle volleys, and taps at military funerals, ensuring that the fallen are given the respect and dignity they deserve.

In 2022, the Honor Guard participated in 20 funeral services, paying tribute to the brave men and women who have served in the United States military. They were honored to be able to honor these heroes and their families during such a difficult time. Chaplain Basierbe has officiated at three veterans’ funerals and one memorial service this year, honoring the sacrifices of those who have served our country.

“It is an honor to serve our veterans and their families in this way,” said, Chaplain Basierbe. “We are proud to pay tribute to those who have given so much for our country and to offer support and comfort to their loved ones during this difficult time.”

The Berkley American Legion is grateful for the hard work and dedication of the Honor Guard, and we are honored to have them as a part of our organization. Their selflessness and commitment to honoring the fallen truly embodies the spirit of the American Legion.

We extend our deepest condolences to the families of those who were honored by the Honor Guard this year, and we are grateful for the sacrifices they have made for our country.
