The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) and the Menominee County Road Commission have announced a temporary detour for US-2 near the US-2/US-41 intersection in Powers, Menominee County. This change is due to scheduled railroad bridge work that will take place from October 20 to October 31.
According to MDOT, US-2 will be closed for five days starting at approximately 9:30 a.m. on Monday, October 20. The detour will be lifted for the weekend around 5 p.m. on Friday, October 24. The closure and detour are set to resume at 9 a.m. on Monday, October 27, with the expectation that all work will be completed by no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, October 31, unless there are unforeseen delays.
Drivers are advised to follow posted signs directing them along local roads during the closure period.
A statement from officials noted: "Closing the highway during this type of work is necessary to keep motorists and workers safe."
