The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will close Meridian Road at M-43 in Ingham County starting Monday, October 20, for intersection rebuilding. The closure is part of a broader project to replace the M-43 bridge over the Red Cedar River.

The affected area is near the communities of Okemos and Williamston. The closure will begin at 7 a.m. on October 20 and is expected to last until 7 p.m. on Sunday, November 23.

MDOT advises motorists to follow posted detours and expect delays in the area. Drivers are encouraged to seek alternate routes during the construction period.

According to MDOT, the $11 million investment in the project is projected to support about 105 jobs through direct and indirect economic effects.

The department stated, "The new bridge will provide drivers with a safe, reliable structure for decades to come. Rebuilding the intersection will create a smoother, safer driving surface for drivers." MDOT also noted that lane closures are necessary during this type of work to ensure safety for both crews and motorists.
