The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will begin maintenance work on the Allen Road bridge over I-69 in Port Huron starting Monday, October 20, 2025. The project comes after crews discovered a crack in one of the bridge beams while repainting the bridge earlier this summer.
During the maintenance period, which is expected to last until Friday, November 7, 2025, one lane of westbound I-69 will be closed. Traffic on Allen Road will be reduced to a single alternating lane, managed by a portable traffic signal.
MDOT stated, "This work will help ensure continued safe and reliable operation of the bridge. Closing lanes on I-69 and Allen Road is necessary to allow crews to safely perform the work."
The project aims to address the structural issue found during routine maintenance and to maintain safety for motorists using the bridge.
