The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) announced that the Michigan Avenue north roundabout at I-94 in Jackson will be closed for corrective repairs starting Monday, October 13, 2025. The closure will last until Monday, October 27, 2025, with work scheduled to begin at 7 a.m. on both the start and end dates. These repairs are being conducted by the contractor before the completion of the overall I-94 project.

The roundabout closure is part of a larger, multi-year $162 million project to rebuild I-94 roads and bridges in Jackson County. This initiative is part of Governor Gretchen Whitmer's Rebuilding Michigan program, which aims to improve the condition of key state highways and bridges. According to the announcement, the investment strategy is focused on making fixes that provide longer-lasting infrastructure and support economic activity.

During the closure, motorists can expect delays. Detours will be posted: eastbound I-94 traffic will use the Parma Road on and off ramps (Exit 130), while westbound traffic will be rerouted via the Concord Road (Exit 127) and Parma Road (Exit 130) ramps.

MDOT noted that, based on economic modeling, the I-94 investment is expected to directly and indirectly support approximately 1,960 jobs. The improvements are also expected to increase safety and mobility in this area of I-94, which serves as a key trade corridor.

“These repairs are being performed by the contractor before the overall I-94 project is completed.”

The overall I-94 rebuilding project in Jackson County is scheduled for completion in November 2025.
