Lincoln Park man claims $25,000-a-year-for-life lottery prize

A Lincoln Park resident has won the $25,000 a year for life prize from the Michigan Lottery’s Lucky For Life game. Craig Anderson, 69, matched all five white balls in the September 18 drawing with numbers 14-29-41-44-46. He purchased his ticket at Holbrook Liquor Shop in Detroit.

Anderson described his reaction upon learning of his win: “I play Lucky For Life every day. When I scanned this Lucky For Life ticket after the drawing, I got a message to file a claim at the Lottery office, so I went to the Lottery claim center in Saginaw thinking I won $5,000. I was in shock when the Lottery employee told me that my ticket was a winner of $25,000 a year for life!”

He claimed his prize at Lottery headquarters and opted for a one-time lump sum payment of $390,000 instead of annual payments. Anderson said he plans to pay off his house and save the rest.

Lucky For Life tickets cost $2 per play and offer prizes from $3 up to lifetime cash awards. The top prize is $1,000 a day for life for matching all five numbers plus the Lucky Ball. Matching just the five numbers without the Lucky Ball results in the $25,000 a year for life prize. Drawings are held nightly at 10:38 p.m., and tickets are available at retailers statewide as well as online through MichiganLottery.com.
