Round two of the Lewis Fall Intercollegiate at Cog Hill Golf & Country Club in Lemont, Illinois, was suspended due to darkness on Monday evening. The horn sounded at 6:15 p.m. local time, leaving players with between 29 and 36 holes completed. No member of the Northern Michigan University (NMU) team finished two full rounds before play was halted.
The tournament, featuring a field of 15 teams, is being contested on the Dubsdread course, which played as a par 72 over 7,078 yards. Over the course of the day, only six complete second rounds were recorded out of 86 total rounds played, with the average score for the course standing at 80.29.
Tyler Annala from NMU was in third place individually when play stopped, trailing the leader by two strokes. Annala shot a first-round score of 74, recording 14 pars and one birdie on the fourth hole and finishing his last six holes at one under par. In round two, he made birdies on holes ten and twelve as well as consecutive birdies on holes eighteen and one before ending even par through fifteen holes. Annala has three more holes to finish before beginning his third round.
Brady Badker started with an opening round of +10 that included three birdies. He began his second round with five straight pars and stood at +4 through fourteen holes when play ended, ranking second among NMU golfers and tied for 37th overall at +14.
Levi Pennala posted a first-round score of 76 (+4), playing his front nine at one under par and adding two more birdies to his card in that round. In his second round—fifteen holes completed—he made two additional birdies but struggled for consistency and was twelve over par when play was suspended.
Brothers Harvey Ylitalo (+17) and Arthur Ylitalo (+20) completed the Wildcats’ lineup. Harvey tallied four birdies through thirty holes; Arthur had five through thirty-two.
The Wildcats were tied for seventh place with McKendree University at +44 overall. They trailed Bellevue University (+43) and host Lewis University (+40). Parkside led after posting rounds of +6 and +8—the only single-digit team scores so far—and had three players among the top four: Shane Stanley (even), Aleck Simms (+1), NMU’s Tyler Annala (+2), and Ryan Lingelbach (+3).
The tournament will resume Tuesday morning with completion of round two followed by the final eighteen-hole third round.
