A Wayne County resident has won $2 million after playing the Michigan Lottery’s 100X instant game. The 32-year-old winner, who has chosen to remain anonymous, said he decided to buy a few tickets while at a store.
“I don’t usually play the 100X game, but I bought a few on a whim while I was at the store,” he said. “I was scratching off one of the tickets and when I saw I matched number 11 with ‘$2MIL’ underneath, I kept asking myself: ‘What does this mean?’ because I didn’t believe I really won $2 million at first.
“When my mom looked the ticket over and told me it was a $2 million winner, I was so excited I didn’t know what to do with myself! Turning $20 into $2 million is unbelievable and still doesn’t feel real. I don’t think it’s going to fully sink in until I cash the check.”
Lottery Commissioner Suzanna Shkreli commented on the win: “The decision to purchase a few Lottery tickets on a whim changed this lucky player’s life forever! Congratulations to the player on his incredible $2 million win!”
The winning ticket was purchased at Fleck’s Fresh Mart in Canton. The winner visited Lottery headquarters to claim his prize and chose a lump sum payment of about $1.3 million instead of annuity payments for the full amount. He plans to save his winnings.
The Michigan Lottery’s 100X game launched in January and has awarded more than $68 million in prizes so far. Each ticket costs $20 and offers prizes from $20 up to $2 million. Over $34 million in prizes are still available, including another top prize of $2 million as well as several other large prizes.
In 2024, players across Michigan won nearly $1.8 billion from instant games offered by the state lottery.
Lottery instant games can be purchased at retailers throughout Michigan.
