The Great Lakes Wire, a media organization focused on local governmental affairs, has submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Ingham County Sheriff's Office. The request seeks comprehensive arrest records for the year 2023. Specifically, the requested data includes information such as arrestee name, sex, race, age, date of birth, citizenship status, booking ID, date of arrest, booking photo, names of arresting officers, type and location of crime, and date of crime.
The request was made under the Michigan Freedom of Information Act § 15.231 et seq., with a preference for receiving the information in electronic format. The requester has also asked for a fee waiver based on their role as a media professional involved in gathering and reporting news to the public.
