Lane closures will begin on M-53 in Sanilac County starting September 23, as the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) has issued a permit to the Sanilac County Drain Commission for storm sewer work. The project area is between Chard Street and Angle City in Marlette.
The construction is expected to continue through November 2025. According to MDOT, traffic will be maintained with lane closures and traffic shifts, ensuring that one lane remains open in each direction.
“These lane closures will ensure the safety of utility workers and motorists as crews replace the storm sewer under M-53,” MDOT stated.
The work aims to improve infrastructure and maintain safe travel conditions for both workers and drivers throughout the duration of the project.
