Northern Michigan University’s athletics teams are preparing for a busy week of competition from September 15 to September 21, 2025. The schedule includes events in men’s golf, soccer, cross country, volleyball, swim and dive, and football.
The men’s golf team is currently participating in the Bulldog Fall Classic at Katke Golf Course in Big Rapids, Michigan. The event features top regional teams and began on Monday with two rounds scheduled at 9 AM and 2 PM. The third round will take place on Tuesday.
Friday will see several NMU teams in action. Men’s soccer hosts Parkside at noon to start their GLIAC conference schedule after returning from their longest road trip of the season. Cross country travels to Minnesota for the Roy Griak Invite at 1:15 PM, a meet the Wildcats have attended annually since at least 2012 according to NMU records. Women’s soccer heads out for its first road trip after four home games, facing Roosevelt in Chicago on Friday before playing Parkside in Kenosha, Wisconsin on Sunday.
Volleyball remains on the road as they begin their GLIAC season against Davenport on Friday and Ferris State on Saturday. “After a pair of long road trips with action-packed schedules, the Wildcats don't get time off from the road, as the Green and Gold travel to the lower peninsula for the first GLIAC matches of the season, facing Davenport and Ferris State,” stated NMU Athletics.
The swim and dive team will compete in both Green vs Gold & Wildcat Alumni events on Friday evening and Saturday morning.
Homecoming weekend is highlighted by football as NMU welcomes Davenport to Superior Dome for their first conference game of the season. “After narrowly falling to D1 St. Thomas, the Wildcats welcome the Davenport Panthers to the Superior Dome for Homecoming 2025 and the first conference game of the season,” said NMU Athletics.
