Devante Thomas, a 32-year-old resident of Saginaw, has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Jerome F. Gorgon, Jr., who was joined by James Deir, Special Agent in Charge of the Detroit Field Office of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF).
U.S. District Court Judge Thomas L. Ludington delivered the sentence after Thomas pleaded guilty to possessing methamphetamine with the intent to distribute.
Court documents indicate that in January 2025, Michigan State Police stopped Thomas on I-75 in Birch Run and discovered over four kilograms of methamphetamine in his vehicle. Following this stop, agents from the Bay Area Narcotics Enforcement Team and ATF executed a search warrant at Thomas’s home. There they found an additional 579 grams of methamphetamine, along with 27 grams of fentanyl, 108 grams of cocaine, and four firearms.
The investigation involved collaboration between the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms and the Michigan State Police Bay Area Narcotics Enforcement Team. Assistant United States Attorney William Orr prosecuted the case.
