For the first time in 2025, the Powerball jackpot has reached $1 billion, with a cash option of $453.1 million for Saturday’s drawing.

“Saturday’s Powerball jackpot is bringing extra excitement to Michiganders after jumping to $1 billion,” said Lottery Commissioner, Suzanna Shkreli. “It’s the first $1 billion jackpot in 2025 and players are taking notice, which is good news for Lottery retailers throughout the state and public schools in Michigan.”

If claimed, this would be the largest Powerball jackpot won in more than a year and ranks as the sixth largest in Powerball history. The upcoming drawing marks the 39th since the last win on May 31, when a ticket sold in California secured a $204.5 million prize.

Since June 2, players from Michigan have received over $6 million in prizes during this current jackpot run, including two prizes of $1 million each. The last time a Michigan player won the Powerball jackpot was on January 1, 2024, when a lottery club from Mid-Michigan claimed an $842.4 million prize with a ticket bought in Grand Blanc—the largest ever Powerball win in Michigan.

Powerball tickets are available at retailers statewide until 9:45 p.m. Saturday and can also be purchased online at MichiganLottery.com. Each play costs $2. Players can add “Power Play” for an additional dollar to multiply non-jackpot winnings by up to ten times (up to $2 million). Another dollar per play allows entry into Double Play for a chance at up to $10 million in nightly drawings.

Drawings occur at 10:59 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays and can be watched live at http://www.powerball.com. Tickets are available across 45 states as well as Washington D.C., U.S. Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico.
