NFIB member Bernie Williamson, owner of North Star Landscape Design and Installation, welcomed Congressman Tim Walberg (MI-05) for a business tour and roundtable discussion. The visit focused on the recent decision by Congress to make the 20% Small Business Deduction permanent as part of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act.

Bernie Williamson commented on the significance of this change: “Making the Small Business Deduction permanent was extremely important for my small business, and it was a pleasure to thank Congressman Walberg today for helping make it happen,” said Bernie Williamson. “We are grateful Rep. Walberg spent the morning at North Star Landscape Design and Installation, learning more about the daily operations of a small business and the challenges we are facing.”

Amanda Fisher, NFIB Michigan State Director, also addressed the meeting: “We’re thankful that Congressman Walberg took the time to meet with Michigan small businesses today and for delivering permanent tax relief for small businesses nationwide.”

The roundtable provided an opportunity for local business owners to share their experiences with federal tax policy changes.
