The Powerball jackpot has reached $950 million ahead of the upcoming Saturday drawing, with a cash payout option of $428.9 million available to the winner.
Lottery Commissioner Suzanna Shkreli commented on the potential impact for Michigan residents: “Heading into Labor Day weekend, the Powerball jackpot has the potential to change a Michigander’s life! If a lucky player in Michigan wins, it would be a record-setting Powerball prize and have a positive impact on the winner and their family for generations to come.”
If won, this would be the largest Powerball prize awarded in over a year and rank as the sixth largest in Powerball history. The current run marks 39 drawings since May 31, when one ticket sold in California secured a $204.5 million jackpot.
Michigan Lottery players have collectively won more than $6 million in prizes since June 2, including two separate $1 million prizes. The last time Michigan produced a Powerball jackpot winner was January 1, 2024. On that date, a Mid-Michigan lottery club claimed an $842.4 million prize with a ticket bought in Grand Blanc—the largest Powerball win ever recorded in Michigan.
Powerball tickets are available at retailers statewide until 9:45 p.m. Saturday and can also be purchased online at MichiganLottery.com. Each play costs $2, with options like “Power Play” and “Double Play” offering chances to increase non-jackpot winnings or secure an additional chance at up to $10 million for extra fees.
Drawings occur every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 10:59 p.m., viewable live online at http://www.powerball.com. Tickets are sold across 45 states as well as Washington D.C., U.S. Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico.
