Renée Branch Canady, Chief Executive Officer of the Michigan Public Health Institute (MPHI), has been named Board Chair-Elect of iMPROve Health. iMPROve Health serves as Michigan’s designated Quality Improvement Organization and has more than four decades of experience in healthcare quality improvement.
Dr. Canady began her tenure as CEO at MPHI in 2014 and brings over 30 years of experience in public health. Her previous roles include serving as Health Officer at Ingham County Health Department and assistant professor in the Master of Public Health program at Michigan State University (MSU). She holds a Bachelor of Science in Public Health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a Master of Public Administration from Western Michigan University, and a PhD in Medical Sociology from MSU.
Dr. Canady is recognized nationally for her leadership in public health policy. She started her position as Chair-Elect for iMPROve Health’s board in May 2025. She will become Board Chair in May 2026, taking over from Melissa Werbish, who currently holds the role.
