The Northern Michigan University men's and women's golf teams have released their fall tournament schedule for the 2025/26 season. Head coach Ben Johnson, entering his second year leading the program, expressed anticipation for the upcoming competitions.

"We're looking forward to getting started, and I know the team is eager to get back to work," said Johnson. "We have some exciting young talent coming in this year, and we can't wait to get started."

The women's team will begin their season at the Cardinal Cup hosted by Saginaw Valley State University at Saginaw Country Club on September 8 and 9 in Saginaw, Michigan. The men's team starts a week later at the Bulldog Fall Classic in Big Rapids, Michigan, held at Katke Golf Course and hosted by Ferris State. Last season, Ferris State's men led stroke play at the GLIAC Championship before being eliminated in match play semifinals. They also finished eighth at the NCAA Super Regional Championships.

Following these openers, both teams will participate in tournaments organized by Wayne State University. The women will compete in the Warrior Invitational at The Orchards Golf Club in Washington, Michigan on September 22 and 23. The men will play in the Motor City Shakedown at TPC Michigan in Dearborn a week later. Wayne State's men's golf team is currently the defending GLIAC champion; both their men's and women's squads qualified for last year's NCAA Tournament.

The fall season concludes with two events where both NMU teams travel together. First is the Flyer Fall Intercollegiate at Cog Hill Golf & Country Club in Lemont, Illinois on October 6 and 7, hosted by Lewis University. Their final tournament serves as a preview of the GLIAC Championship: from October 11 to 12 in Augusta, Michigan, NMU's women will play Stonehedge North while the men compete at Stoatin Brae—two courses located near each other.

Regional rankings show Northern Michigan's men's team placed #27 (#153 nationally) among Midwest programs according to SCOREBOARD as of May 29, 2025. In East region rankings for women’s teams, NMU stands #33 (#147 nationally). Grand Valley leads both regions; Wayne State ranks third among Midwest men and eighth among East women.
