A Genesee County resident has claimed a significant prize from the Michigan Lottery after winning $25,000 a year for life through the Lucky For Life game.

Kenneth Stayt of Fenton matched all five white balls in the July 19 drawing. He purchased his ticket at Sagebrush Cantina on North Fenton Road. The winning numbers were 12, 23, 33, 35, and 36.

“I go to Sagebrush Cantina regularly and usually play Club Keno while I’m there, but this time I purchased a Lucky For Life ticket instead,” said Stayt. “I went to MichiganLottery.com to check the winning numbers around midnight and was amazed when I saw my ticket matched all five of the white balls. This is a life-changing amount of money that will allow me to live easy and not have to worry about things.

“I’ve been keeping my big win a secret from my kids, and now that I have my check, I plan to surprise them with the money!”

Stayt, who is 70 years old, visited Lottery headquarters to claim his prize. He chose a one-time lump sum payment of $390,000 instead of annual payments. He said he plans to share some of his winnings with family and friends before investing what remains.

Lucky For Life tickets cost $2 per play and offer various prizes up to $1,000 a day for life. To win the top prize, players must match five numbers between 1 and 48 plus one Lucky Ball number between 1 and 18. Players matching only the five main numbers receive $25,000 annually for life. Drawings are held nightly at 10:38 p.m., with tickets available at retailers statewide as well as online at https://www.michiganlottery.com/.
