The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) has announced its Academic Honor Squads and Academic Honor Roll for the 2024-25 academic year. Northern Michigan University's Wildcats were recognized as an Academic Honor Squad, with five of their student-athletes earning spots on the Academic Honor Roll.
To qualify as an IWLCA Academic Honor Squad, a women's lacrosse team must achieve a team GPA of 3.2 or higher. This year, 383 schools across various divisions received this honor.
The IWLCA also recognized 588 student-athletes from 84 institutions on the Division II Academic Honor Roll. Eligibility requires students to be juniors, seniors, or graduate students with a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher.
"Our athletes set a new bar for academic achievement this past year, earning one of our highest cumulative GPAs in program history," said head coach Lindsey (LeMay) Majkrzak. The team achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.43. "The honor roll recipients, each in differing majors with differing challenges, earned that distinction with hours of hard work and dedication off of the field."
Recognized athletes include Norah Bates (Engineering Technologies), Dayna Carlson (Environmental Studies and Sustainability), Lindsey Locke (Spanish/International Studies), Taylor Priestley (Education), and Mya Snyder (Exercise Science). For Bates, Carlson, Locke, and Priestley, this marks their second consecutive honor squad recognition.
This is the fourth consecutive season that the Wildcats have been named an Academic Honor Squad and the third straight season with five or more athletes on the honor squad.
