Yesterday, Andrew Olnhausen, a 38-year-old from Texas, was convicted by a Lenawee County jury on multiple felony counts related to criminal sexual conduct. Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel announced the conviction. The charges include four counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, which carry potential life sentences with lifetime electronic monitoring.

Olnhausen also faced three counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct, each carrying a 15-year sentence; one count of accosting children for immoral purposes, a 4-year felony; five counts of possessing child sexually abusive material, each with a 4-year penalty; one count of using a computer to commit a crime, which is punishable by up to seven years; one count of distributing sexual material to a minor, a 2-year felony; and one count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, which is considered a misdemeanor punishable by up to 90 days.

The former youth soccer coach was associated with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He engaged in an abusive relationship with one of his players starting in 2016 when the victim was just 12 years old. This continued until the victim reached approximately 16 years old.

The Adrian Police Department conducted the investigation that led to these charges against Olnhausen. He was extradited from Texas back to Michigan in 2022 to face trial.

“I am grateful to the jury for their careful consideration of the evidence, the Adrian Police Department for their investigative efforts, and the prosecutors in my office for their commitment to this case,” Nessel stated. “Above all, I commend the courage of the victim, whose decision to come forward after years of abuse made this outcome possible. My office will continue pursuing justice for sexual assault survivors, no matter how long it takes.”

Olnhausen's sentencing is scheduled for September 5 at the 39th Circuit Court in Lenawee County before Judge Olsaver.
