A Lenawee County resident has won $300,000 by playing the Michigan Lottery's Safe Cracker Cashword instant game. The 58-year-old winner, who prefers to remain anonymous, recounted his experience: "I play all of the different instant games, so Safe Cracker Cashword just happened to be the game I randomly picked out that day while I was at the store." He explained that after scratching and scanning the ticket, he received a message to file a claim at the Lottery office. Upon further inspection, he discovered he had revealed 10 words for a substantial prize. "I couldn’t believe it when I revealed 10 words for a $300,000 prize! It was a great feeling," he said.
The winning ticket was purchased at Busch’s on West Chicago Boulevard in Tecumseh, approximately 30 miles southwest of Ann Arbor. The winner recently visited Lottery headquarters to claim his prize and plans to invest his winnings.
Since its launch in December, players have won over $14 million with Safe Cracker Cashword. Each $5 ticket offers prizes ranging from $5 up to $300,000. Currently, more than $21 million in prizes are still available, including two top prizes of $300,000 and 92 prizes of $1,000.
In 2024 alone, nearly $1.8 billion was awarded to players through instant games offered by the Michigan Lottery. These games can be purchased at various retailers throughout the state.
